ISLAMABAD: The government announced its commitment to ensuring widespread access to affordable, high-speed internet services across the country, with a particular focus on supporting digital professionals in remote areas. This initiative aims to address connectivity challenges faced by freelancers and e-commerce entrepreneurs in underserved regions.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, along with Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the government’s priority during a meeting held in Islamabad. The meeting concentrated on the National Connectivity Plan, which is set to be finalized through consultations with relevant stakeholders. The plan aims to bridge the digital divide by expanding access to vital internet services in villages, remote areas, and small towns.

The session also highlighted the importance of next-generation fiber-to-the-home networks and 5G infrastructure, which are seen as critical to driving economic growth, creating job opportunities, and promoting digital inclusion nationwide.
