Islamabad: The Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, convened a significant meeting with Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah to evaluate the availability, pricing, and supply of fertilizers nationwide. The meeting emphasized ensuring affordable fertilizer access for farmers in anticipation of the upcoming crop season.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting explored various strategies to stabilize fertilizer prices through collaboration between the Federal Government, provincial governments, and fertilizer companies. Federal Minister Hussain emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers by providing fertilizers at reasonable prices. He highlighted ongoing consultations with provinces and stakeholders to develop a coordinated strategy for price stability and supply chain improvement.

Minister Hussain urged fertilizer companies to lower urea prices for the benefit of farmers, assuring that sufficient urea stocks are available in the country. He dismissed any concerns regarding a fertilizer shortage, stating that manufacturing plants are functioning normally and market supplies are adequate.

Punjab Minister Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah reiterated the Punjab Government’s cooperation with the Federal Government. He stated that both governments are committed to ensuring farmers’ timely access to affordable fertilizers. Shah added that coordinated efforts between the Federation and provinces would prevent market distortions and improve distribution.

The meeting concluded with a pledge to maintain close coordination among provincial governments and fertilizer manufacturers, ensuring the availability, stable pricing, and uninterrupted supply of fertilizers. This initiative aims to support agricultural productivity and bolster national food security.
