Government Approves National Agricultural Biotechnology Policy 2025 to Modernize Agriculture Sector

Islamabad: The government has approved the National Agricultural Biotechnology Policy 2025 in an effort to modernize the country’s agriculture sector through technological and scientific advancements. The policy is aimed at supporting farmers, enhancing food security, increasing agricultural productivity, encouraging responsible investment, and promoting the adoption of modern agricultural technologies.

According to Radio Pakistan, the policy was developed over a two-and-a-half-year consultative process involving scientists, farmers, industry representatives, and relevant departments. A significant milestone under this policy is the approval of genetically modified maize, following the successful completion of prescribed regulatory procedures.

The adoption of these modern agricultural technologies is anticipated to significantly boost Pakistan’s maize exports, potentially reaching an estimated value of one billion dollars.
