Islamabad: The government has approved the expansion of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, increasing it from two lanes to three lanes on each side. This marks a shift in policy for future motorway projects, which will now be constructed with at least three lanes per direction, according to the Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the announcement was made during a meeting of the National Highway Authority in Islamabad. Minister Khan emphasized the importance of the upgrade, stating that the enhancement would alleviate traffic congestion on the M-2 motorway and improve travel conditions between Lahore and Islamabad. The minister also instructed the National Highway Authority to hasten the work on the Sialkot-Rawalpindi Motorway to meet the growing transportation needs in the region.
The decision is part of a broader strategy to improve the national motorway infrastructure, ensuring efficient connectivity and addressing increasing traffic demands.
