Government Addresses Delays in Election Results Processing

Islamabad, The government has acknowledged concerns raised by the media and the public regarding the late processing of election results to Returning Officers (ROs). The Ministry of Interior attributed these delays to communication challenges, which arose as part of stringent security measures implemented to ensure the safety of personnel and ballots. Despite the elaborate security protocols that resulted in significant time consumption, the situation has been reviewed and is now considered satisfactory, with results expected to flow in continuously.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government conducted a thorough review of the issues faced during the results processing phase. The late dissemination of results was mainly due to the need to maintain a foolproof security environment, which necessitated comprehensive protocols for the safe custody of both election personnel and ballots. These measures, while crucial for the integrity of the electoral process, inadvertently affected the speed at which results could be processed and reported.

The Ministry of Interior has reassured the public and media stakeholders that the concerns have been addressed and improvements in the communication and results processing workflow have been made. With these adjustments, the flow of election results to the Returning Officers is now expected to be seamless and continuous, ensuring transparency and timely updates to all interested parties.

The government’s response highlights its commitment to both the security of the electoral process and the importance of timely and accurate communication of election results. As the situation stabilizes, the focus remains on the integrity of the election process and the swift provision of information to the public.
