Good governance in IIOJK confined to papers only

Srinagar, January 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) has said that ‘good governance’ in the territory is confined to papers only.

The NC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the release of ‘Good Governance Index’ for 20 IIOJK districts as part of the Indian government’s efforts to hide its failures on creation of employment opportunities and bridging development deficit in the territory.

“All that is being claimed by the Indian government in terms of transforming the territory in terms of development, infrastructure augmentation and employment generation is nowhere to be seen by the people to this day,” he said.

He said people are suffering on different counts ranging from inflation, development deficit, rising unemployment and administrative inertia. “Much touted 84,000 jobs for youth, infrastructure augmentation, incentivizing entrepreneurship, a comprehensive package for our tourism, horticulture, and handicraft sectors continues to remain a far-fetched dream,” he added.

Reacting to releasing of District Good Governance Index (DGGI) for IIOJK,
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami in his statement in Srinagar said that the claim of good governance and development in IIOJK is far from ground realities.

One of the basic fundamentals of good governance is participation and representation of people, a right which continues to be denied to the people of the territory, he said. Tarigami said the authorities must, at the first instance, restore the rights of the people which unfortunately are being denied to them.
