SRINAGAR, The Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has announced that the authorities have once again disallowed Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid for the fifth consecutive week.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Anjuman Auqaf issued a statement in Srinagar expressing their condemnation of the continuous illegal house detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The authorities have restricted the Friday congregations at the historic mosque due to concerns that they might turn into anti-India and anti-Israel demonstrations.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has been under house arrest for the fifth consecutive Friday. Additionally, Kashmiri religious scholar Syed Hadi Moosvi has also been confined to his home in Badgam for the fourth Friday in a row, preventing him from performing his religious duties.
These actions by the authorities are seen as attempts to prevent the local population from voicing their opposition to the occupation and the situation in Gaza.
