‘Firing on Owaisi a warning, not an attack’: Hindu Sena chief offers legal aid to shooters

New Delhi, February 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):After police arrested two men accused of firing at the cavalcade of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president, Asaduddin Owaisi, in Uttar Pradesh, Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta put out a video offering legal aid to the shooters as he defended their actions.

“It is not an attack, it is a warning. If it was an attack, the bullets would have gone through the window of the car,” said Gupta, boasting about the violent act of the duo. “The youth (Sachin and Shubham) just wanted to warn Owaisi, not harm him.”

He said that the firing was an act of “retaliation for Owaisi’s aggressive speeches” during poll campaigns that were critical of the police under the Yogi government. While warning Owaisi to “respect their sentiments” and refrain from making “such speeches” Gupta said that Hindu Sena was behind the attack on Owaisi’s Delhi residence last year in September.
