Finance Minister Outlines Pakistan’s Virtual-Assets Framework Transition


New York: Pakistan is progressing towards establishing a regulated framework for virtual assets, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, announced at the United Nations Digital Cooperation Day 2026. Senator Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of addressing real economic needs through tokenization, such as reducing the cost of remittances, improving SME financing, managing sovereign debt, and enhancing financial access.



According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister underscored the necessity for private-sector innovation to be supported by robust state safeguards, inclusive digital infrastructure, and international cooperation. He highlighted the significance of involving emerging economies in the development of global standards for digital assets. The event, themed “Blockchain and the Tokenized Future: Sovereign Choices and Safeguards for Next-Gen DPI,” served as a platform for discussing these crucial issues.
