Finance Minister Highlights Role of Diaspora in Economic Development at Washington Event

Washington, D.C.: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, recently addressed an event focused on the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) and remittances, held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C. The event, known as the Pakistan Diaspora Leaders’ Evening, was organized with the support of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Pakistan Banks’ Association (PBA).

According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister emphasized the critical role of the Pakistani diaspora in supporting the country’s economy. He acknowledged the diaspora as a key factor in Pakistan’s external economic stability and resilience. Senator Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s dedication to the RDA scheme, noting that even during challenging periods, such as the severe balance of payments crisis, the government did not impose restrictions on deposits in RDA accounts.

The event also highlighted recent updates to the RDA scheme, which have expanded the investment choices for account holders. The Finance Minister encouraged overseas Pakistanis to utilize these opportunities to invest in Pakistan’s economic growth through the RDA platform. The evening concluded with a question and answer session, allowing for further engagement with the attendees.
