Islamabad: Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, convened a meeting with the American Business Forum (ABF), led by its President, Osman Khalid Waheed, to discuss the nation’s economic reforms and the business climate.

According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister welcomed the delegation and outlined Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic outlook. He emphasized the government’s dedication to macroeconomic stability and structural reforms, despite global and regional challenges. The Minister also detailed efforts to tackle energy sector challenges and strengthen supply chains, with a focus on effective coordination across key ministries.

The American Business Forum expressed appreciation for the government’s reform agenda and proposed measures to enhance the business environment. Discussions included tax policy rationalization, export incentivization, and foreign exchange facilitation. Sector-specific issues were addressed, particularly in pharmaceuticals and IT, highlighting the need for regulatory reforms and digitalization to boost exports and investment.

Senator Aurangzeb acknowledged the delegation’s input and reiterated the government’s commitment to a business-friendly environment, emphasizing tax rationalization and regulatory reforms in the upcoming budget. Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement to support Pakistan’s economic transformation and attract foreign investment.

The delegation featured senior representatives from multinational and domestic companies, including executives from Ferozsons Laboratories, Stewart Pakistan, Jockey Pakistan, ECHO West, Coca-Cola Pakistan, PepsiCo, Hardee’s MDS Foods, Bajco Group, Millat Tractors Limited, and Abbott Pakistan Limited.
