Islamabad: The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, H.E. Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, met with Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Law and Justice, in Islamabad to explore possibilities of enhanced cooperation in the legal and justice sector.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions recognized the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan, based on shared cultural heritage and historical connections. Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation in legal and institutional areas. A central point of the meeting was the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual legal cooperation between the two countries’ Ministries of Law and Justice. This agreement aims to promote collaboration in legal matters, facilitate expertise exchange, and improve institutional linkages.

The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in the legal and justice domain through exchanges of legal experts, judges, and professionals; capacity building; specialized training programs; and sharing best practices in areas such as commercial law, dispute resolution, and regulatory frameworks. Emphasis was placed on cooperation in arbitration, mediation, and cross-border dispute resolution.

Enhanced coordination between the Ministries was noted as a means to improve access to justice, boost institutional efficiency, and foster investor confidence by ensuring transparent legal systems. The Minister appreciated the Ambassador’s efforts to deepen bilateral relations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to engaging with Tajikistan across all sectors, especially legal and judicial areas.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to continue close coordination for the finalization and early signing of the proposed MoU.
