ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing structural reforms focused on the tax system and compliance enhancement, as well as reducing discretionary powers. The announcement underscores a strategic shift toward digitization and faceless processes to improve compliance.

According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council, led by Vice Chairman Ziad Bashir. The meeting, held in Islamabad, provided a platform for the Finance Minister to discuss the government’s strategies to tackle current global economic challenges, including disruptions in energy markets, supply chains, and food security.

The Finance Minister emphasized the need for rationalizing the tax system as part of broader economic reforms. The discussion with the business council is part of the government’s ongoing engagement with stakeholders to ensure that policy measures align with the needs of businesses and the broader economy.
