Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Mr. S. Paul Kapur, the U.S. Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, to discuss enhancing economic cooperation and exploring investment opportunities between Pakistan and the United States. The meeting, held at the Finance Division, also included U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Natalie A. Baker.
According to Press Information Department, the discussions centered on strengthening trade relations and advancing Pakistan’s reform agenda to improve macroeconomic stability and create an investor-friendly climate. Senator Aurangzeb emphasized the positive trajectory of Pakistan-U.S. relations and the government’s commitment to transparency and predictability for investors, highlighting ongoing efforts in economic stabilization and reform.
Senator Aurangzeb noted improvements in economic indicators such as remittances and external inflows, and expressed the government’s focus on attracting long-term investments in sectors like energy, mining, infrastructure, technology, and digital finance. Mr. Kapur acknowledged Pakistan’s reform efforts and stressed the importance of a competitive business environment to attract foreign investment. He indicated American companies’ strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan.
Ms. Baker praised Pakistan’s engagement with American businesses and the government’s efforts to create an enabling business environment. She highlighted the growing interest among U.S. companies in various sectors within Pakistan. The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening economic ties and advancing shared economic and development goals.
