Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, engaged in a significant meeting with a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), led by its President, Ms. Zou Jiayi, at the Finance Division. The discussions focused on infrastructure financing, economic reforms, and enhancing the financial capacity of Pakistan.
According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister expressed appreciation for AIIB’s ongoing partnership with Pakistan, highlighting the successful issuance of Pakistan’s PANDA Bond, backed by AIIB’s guarantee arrangements. This transaction is seen as a reflection of growing investor confidence in Pakistan’s economic trajectory. Ms. Zou congratulated the Pakistani government on the bond issuance, acknowledging the role of multilateral development institutions in facilitating access to diversified financing sources.
The meeting covered Pakistan’s macroeconomic improvements, including inflation control, external sector stability, and fiscal management. The Finance Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining macroeconomic stability and pursuing export-led growth. Discussions also explored Pakistan’s investment portfolio, focusing on infrastructure-led growth, strategic sector investments, and strengthening regional connectivity.
Both parties deliberated on strategic cooperation and a structured multi-year financing pipeline aligned with national development priorities. The AIIB delegation shared insights into ongoing engagements in Pakistan, discussing avenues for collaboration in infrastructure, energy, climate financing, and emergency mechanisms.
