Federal Ombudsperson Engages Chief Justice on Workplace Harassment Protections


Islamabad: Ms. Fouzia Viqar, Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, held a meeting with the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Supreme Court today to discuss enhancing protections against workplace harassment and promoting gender-responsive justice.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions centered on improving institutional mechanisms to safeguard workplace dignity and address harassment in both public and private sectors. Ms. Viqar provided an overview of her office’s efforts to create safer working environments and highlighted the need for stronger institutional coordination to effectively implement existing laws.



The discourse also emphasized raising awareness about legal remedies available to victims and increasing institutional responsiveness toward marginalized groups. The Chief Justice reaffirmed the judiciary’s dedication to upholding constitutional values of equality and non-discrimination, underscoring the necessity of secure and respectful professional settings.



Ms. Viqar acknowledged the judiciary’s reform initiatives and its proactive approach to fostering gender-sensitive justice. The meeting aligns with the Supreme Court’s ongoing engagement with statutory bodies to promote justice sector reforms that are inclusive and attentive to citizen needs.
