Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan convened a video-link meeting with the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance to address pressing issues related to axle load limits and heavy vehicle regulations on motorways. Abdul Aleem Khan underlined the importance of transporters adhering to weight restrictions to safeguard national road infrastructure and pledged to address their legitimate concerns promptly. He extended an invitation to the transporters for a detailed meeting in Islamabad to further discuss their issues.

According to Press Information Department, the Federal Minister assured that the Motorway Police would be purged of corruption within a month, with strict actions against any officials involved in malpractices. He emphasized that overloaded vehicles would not be permitted on motorways, reinforcing the government’s commitment to enforcing the axle load policy. Abdul Aleem Khan called for unity in the national interest and urged transporters to engage in dialogue rather than extreme measures.

The meeting included key figures such as the Federal Secretary Communications, Inspector General Motorway Police, and transport secretaries from all four provinces, alongside representatives from various goods transport organizations. Participants, including Shabbir Malik and Mirza Nasiruddin, expressed support for the axle load policy and the minister’s initiatives, signaling a collaborative effort to resolve sectoral challenges.
