Islamabad: The Waziristan Joint Venture, operated by Mari Energies Limited, has announced the commencement of production from the Spinwam-1 exploratory well in the Waziristan Block. This initiative is expected to add 40 million cubic feet of gas per day and 220 barrels of condensate per day to Pakistan’s energy resources.
According to Press Information Department, the inauguration ceremony at the Mari Energies Head Office was attended by Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik. He commended the joint venture’s technical expertise and operational achievements, emphasizing the significance of such discoveries in bolstering Pakistan’s energy security and reducing reliance on energy imports. Malik also acknowledged the sacrifices made by law enforcement agencies and energy sector personnel that have enabled these advancements.
Faheem Haider, Managing Director and CEO of Mari Energies, underscored Spinwam-1’s role in fulfilling the joint venture’s commitment to developing local hydrocarbon resources and meeting the growing energy demand. The Spinwam-1 well, following the Shewa-1 discovery, marks the second successful exploratory endeavor in the block, significantly enhancing the gas supply to the national grid.
The project benefits from the completion of an SNGPL transmission pipeline, integrating the Shewa-1 and Spinwam-1 outputs into the national gas network. Participants at the event also paid tribute to those who have served under challenging conditions to ensure the success of such energy projects.
The joint venture anticipates continued collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the government, and other authorities to further explore and secure Pakistan’s energy future.
