Islamabad: On the directive of Federal Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, 11,695 pending net metering applications have been resolved, and a system for direct communication with the affected consumers has been initiated. This action aims to ensure that consumers receive their due rights in accordance with established rules, removing the need for intermediaries in the application process.

According to Press Information Department, during the transition from net metering to net billing, 16,654 applications were initially pending. Under the minister’s guidance, a verification and validation initiative was launched, resulting in the resolution of a significant number of cases. The Power Division, in collaboration with relevant institutions, has processed these applications, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

The Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) is now directly contacting consumers via digital channels to provide updates on their application status. Consumers are advised that no payments are needed for processing their applications, aiming to protect them from exploitation by unauthorized agents.

The verification process for the remaining applications is ongoing, ensuring thorough evaluation and adherence to guidelines. The government emphasizes its commitment to promoting solar and renewable energy, with policies designed to support sector growth and protect consumer rights.

Minister Leghari has emphasized the importance of resolving public grievances efficiently and transparently, instructing organizations to expedite the review of remaining applications and maintain clear communication with consumers.
