Islamabad: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, convened a strategic meeting on Tuesday to explore international partnerships aimed at reducing poverty in Pakistan. The gathering, held at the Ministry, included key figures such as MNA Romina Khurshid Alam, Chairman of the Standing Committee on IT and Telecom Ameen Ul Haque, and former NCRC member Dr. Rubina Feroze Bhatti.
The discussions centered on harnessing global alliances and enhancing digital infrastructure to address poverty. Minister Shah underscored the importance of international collaboration, transparent data exchange, and innovative social protection models in poverty alleviation initiatives. He highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to sharing program data with international entities focused on social development in Pakistan.
Minister Shah proposed utilizing a Public-Private Partnership model to equip brick kiln workers with skills for global labor markets, such as South Korea, to aid in the economic rehabilitation of bonded labor.
SAPM Romina Khurshid Alam emphasized localizing successful global models, citing Rwanda’s achievement in poverty reduction through digital economic reforms. She also discussed China’s Global Development Initiative as a framework for inclusive development in Pakistan.
Chairman Ameen Ul Haque expressed his Ministry’s support for digital coordination and skills training, stressing the role of IT solutions in enhancing service delivery and poverty alleviation systems.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to a coordinated follow-up mechanism to implement the proposed strategies.
