Islamabad: The Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Bekar Abdula, has praised the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative, a program launched by the Pakistani government aimed at achieving economic growth and national prosperity. During his meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, the ambassador highlighted the potential for both nations to enhance trade and investment ties.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ambassador discussed Ethiopia’s recent reforms under Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, noting significant political and economic liberalization in the country. These reforms have contributed to Ethiopia’s consistent economic growth, emphasizing macroeconomic balance, increased domestic production, and foreign investment.
During the discussions, Dr. Abdula expressed the possibility of mutual learning and cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan, inviting Minister Iqbal to a Pakistani exhibition in Addis Ababa in 2025. In response, Minister Iqbal acknowledged the strengthening bilateral relations, marked by the establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the exchange of delegations, and the launch of Ethiopian Airlines services in Pakistan.
