Beijing: The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing commemorated Kashmir Black Day on October 27, marking the anniversary of Indian forces entering Jammu and Kashmir in 1947, an event seen as the beginning of a protracted occupation and denial of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
According to Press Information Department, the event at the Embassy’s Chancery highlighted Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and called for a resolution to the dispute based on United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. Messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read, emphasizing Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri struggle and condemning human rights violations in the region.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Dr. Syed Ali Asad Gillani, addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of international law and UNSC resolutions in resolving the dispute, and acknowledged China’s supportive stance. The event included a documentary screening and a photo exhibition on the human rights situation in IIOJK, attended by members of academia, media, think tanks, and the Pakistani community.
