Ankara: The Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara commemorated Youm-e-Istehsal, marking the seventh anniversary of India’s actions in the region of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event, attended by Turkish and Pakistani dignitaries, diplomats, and community members, focused on expressing solidarity with the people of IIOJK.

According to Press Information Department, the ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by readings of messages from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

Maj. Gen (R) Güray Alpar, Chairman of the Geopolitical Foresight Institute, addressed the audience, emphasizing the geopolitical significance of Jammu and Kashmir and warning against India’s actions that could destabilize the region.

Director General of SESRIC and former Turkish Minister, Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, reaffirmed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s stance on the Kashmir dispute, calling for a resolution through Kashmiri self-determination as outlined by UNSC resolutions.

Mustafa Kaya, Deputy Chairman of the Saadet Party, condemned the demographic changes in IIOJK, labeling them as “demographic terrorism” and asserting that they would not suppress Kashmiri aspirations.

Ambassador Yousaf Junaid concluded the event, thanking Türkiye for its support and briefing attendees on India’s actions in Kashmir. He emphasized that regional peace depends on a UN-supervised plebiscite for Kashmiris.
