ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to swiftly finalize a reciprocal trade framework, marking a significant step forward in bilateral economic relations. The resolve was expressed during a virtual meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer.

According to Radio Pakistan, both parties acknowledged substantial progress in negotiations for the proposed trade framework. During the meeting, Minister Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of maintaining negotiation momentum to align with Pakistan’s economic priorities. Highlighting the recent discussions in Washington, D.C., Aurangzeb noted the potential of a robust trade partnership with the United States to bolster Pakistan’s export-led growth strategy and enhance economic resilience.

Ambassador Greer recognized Pakistan’s active involvement in the negotiations and praised advancements in labor and regulatory reforms, including strides toward compliance with forced labor standards. He reiterated the United States’ commitment to the positive trajectory of trade discussions and expressed optimism that outstanding issues could be addressed through ongoing technical engagement.
