Election Commission Sets December 31 Deadline for Asset Disclosure by Lawmakers

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced that members of Parliament and Provincial Assemblies must submit their statements of assets and liabilities by December 31, 2026. This requirement, covering the financial year 2025-26, includes the assets and liabilities of their spouses and dependent children, as per Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017. Failure to meet this deadline may lead to suspension from legislative duties.

According to Press Information Department, Section 137 mandates that all lawmakers provide their financial disclosures to the Commission by the end of each year. On January 1, the Commission will release a list of members who have not complied. Further non-compliance by January 15 will result in suspension until the statements are submitted. The law also stipulates penalties for submitting false information within a specified timeframe.

Form-B, required for the submissions, is available at the Election Commission Secretariat and other relevant offices, and can also be downloaded from the Commission’s website.
