Election Commission Mandates Finance Details from Political Parties Post-General Election 2024

Islamabad, Following the General Election 2024, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a directive to all participating political parties to submit detailed reports of their campaign finances, including expenses and donations amounting to one million rupees or more, within 60 days from the notification of successful candidates.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, the requirement to file these financial details is mandated under Section 211 of the Election Act, 2017, and Rule 161 of the Election Rules, 2017. The notification specifies that political parties must utilize Form 68 for the submission of their campaign finance details by the set deadline of 22 April 2024. Failure to comply with this directive may result in the Election Commission withdrawing the election symbols of the non-compliant political parties, thereby impacting their recognition and operations within the political framework of Pakistan.

This move is part of the Commission’s effort to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process, especially concerning the financial aspects of election campaigning. It underscores the importance of regulatory compliance by political entities in maintaining the integrity of the democratic process.
