Islamabad: An analysis of opinion columns and editorials in Pakistani newspapers during June 2026 shows that Economy, Foreign Relations, and Politics were the most prominent themes. These topics were analyzed from 1699 opinion pieces across 12 national newspapers, according to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan’s Monthly Newspaper Content Analysis Research Study.
According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, Economy and Foreign Relations each commanded 19% of the editorial focus, with Politics following at 13%. The analysis forms part of the organization’s ongoing effort to empirically understand opinion leaders’ perspectives on national and international issues. Other topics such as Social issues, Culture & Tourism, and the US-Israel war on Iran also featured prominently, capturing 10%, 8%, and 7% of the coverage, respectively.
The June 2026 study marks the 74th edition of this research series, which aims to track and understand agenda-setting in the mainstream media. Differences were observed between Urdu and English newspapers, where Economy was more discussed in English publications, while Politics and Foreign Relations had a more balanced presence across both languages. This content analysis is part of a broader initiative by the Gilani Research Foundation in collaboration with Gallup & Gilani Pakistan.
