Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has expressed its full backing for the Reko-Diq Project, recognizing it as a project of significant national importance.
In a meeting chaired virtually by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb from China, where he attended the Boao Forum for Asia 2025, the ECC underscored its commitment to the project’s development. The meeting took place in Islamabad.
The ECC approved a summary presented by the Petroleum Division, which addressed modifications to the Reko-Diq Project’s development plan. These changes account for inflation and an expanded project scope, focusing on capacity, the energy mix, alternative water supply options, and updated processing plants and machinery.
Additionally, the ECC sanctioned a technical supplementary grant of 200 million rupees. This grant is allocated for the construction of a coaching center for the Pakistan Sports Board in Skardu.
