Lahore: In a significant move to improve healthcare services, the Punjab Health Department has issued directives to government hospitals in the province to ensure the availability of medicines and essential medical equipment. This initiative follows a series of decisions made during a meeting chaired by Special Secretary Health Operations Punjab, Tariq Mahmood Rahmani.

The directives, prompted by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s recent hospital visits, require hospitals to maintain both digital and manual lists of available medicines. Hospitals must also ensure a steady supply of surgical and disposable equipment in their emergency departments and intensive care units.

The mandate includes the availability of syringes, cannulas, drip sets, surgical gloves, surgical tape, and butterfly needles. Additionally, hospitals have been instructed to stock surgical sutures, urine bags, Foley catheters, cotton rolls, and bandages.

Furthermore, the Health Department has emphasized the activation of complaint counters and the maintenance of cleanliness in hospitals to improve patient care.

The implementation of these directives is aimed at enhancing the quality of medical facilities provided to the public, particularly benefiting the economically disadvantaged.
