Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened today at the Finance Division and approved several significant financial measures and policies.
According to Press Information Department, the ECC approved a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of Rs. 3,915.24 million for the Prime Minister Youth Skill Development Programme and the establishment of Danish Schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan. The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training submitted the proposal.
Additionally, the ECC endorsed two proposals from the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, including a TSG of Rs. 160 million for the repair and maintenance of the Prime Minister’s Office and Rs. 480 million for the operational needs of the Frontier Corps KP (North) Hospital at Shakas, District Khyber. The maintenance responsibilities for the Prime Minister’s Office have been assigned to the Capital Development Authority following the dissolution of the Pakistan Public Works Department.
The ECC also approved a TSG of Rs. 1,500 million for the Prime Minister National Health Programme, previously known as the Sehat Sahulat Programme, aimed at expanding healthcare coverage. Furthermore, the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan secured approval for an increase in the monthly allowance for Jammu and Kashmir Refugees of 1989, from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 6,000 per person, effective February 2026.
In addition, the ECC sanctioned Rs. 1 billion for the Prime Minister Assistance Package and directed a comprehensive review of pension liabilities. The Ministry of National Food Security and Research was allocated Rs. 1 billion for the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority.
The ECC also approved a restructuring plan for the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, involving the sale of 30% shareholding to the National Logistics Corporation, and endorsed a National Policy on Gemstone Potential, aiming to enhance the gemstone sector and regional economic development.
