AIIB Discusses Key Infrastructure Projects with Pakistan’s Federal Minister


Islamabad: The Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Konstantin Limitovskiy, and Director General Mrs. Xiaohong Wang met with Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, to discuss pivotal infrastructure projects in Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Khan emphasized the importance of AIIB’s partnership and investment in the country’s development. The Karachi-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorways were highlighted as critical projects for Pakistan’s economic growth, with completion aimed within two years. The Karachi Port section will have 8 lanes, and the Hyderabad-Sukkur section will have 6 lanes.



Additionally, the Minister announced the completion of the Lahore-Sialkot and Kharian-Rawalpindi motorway projects within the same timeframe, which will reduce travel time between Lahore and Islamabad and result in significant fuel savings. An Air Ambulance Service and trauma centers will also be established on the motorways in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force, enhancing safety and emergency response.



The AIIB delegation expressed interest in collaborating with the National Highway Authority and plans to visit completed projects and Lahore.
