Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened at the Finance Division to approve several key initiatives, including significant Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs) and amendments to the Import Policy Order for betel nut.
According to Press Information Department, the ECC sanctioned a TSG of Rs. 2.8 billion for the Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI) to aid in the immunization of over eight million children. This grant will facilitate the procurement of vaccines and other necessary equipment in collaboration with provincial entities. Additionally, the ECC endorsed modifications to the Import Policy Order, 2022, concerning the import of Areca nut, to align with international standards and improve regulatory measures.
Further approvals included a TSG of Rs. 306 million for the Airports Security Force (ASF) to address essential obligations and Rs. 2 billion for educational and youth development projects under the Federal Education and Professional Training Division. These grants are expected to support initiatives like the establishment of Daanish School in Islamabad and the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme.
The ECC underscored the importance of monitoring fund utilization with specific benchmarks to ensure the efficiency and transparency of these initiatives. The meeting was attended by federal ministers and senior officials from various ministries and regulatory bodies.
