ECC Approves Significant Public Sector Financing for PTVC and Motorway Project

Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has sanctioned critical public sector financing measures, including the release of funds to the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) and the issuance of sovereign guarantees for a major motorway project. These decisions were made during an ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ECC approved a Technical Supplementary Grant for PTVC for the current financial year. The committee endorsed the quarterly release of 3.25 billion rupees to cover PTVC’s operational and essential running expenses. Additionally, the committee authorized sovereign guarantees amounting to 27.62 billion rupees for the construction of the Sialkot (Sambrial)-Kharian Motorway (M-12) Project, which will be executed on a Build-Operate-Transfer basis. The rollover of an Operational Viability Gap Funding of 6.944 billion rupees was also approved. These measures are intended to facilitate the financial closure for the public-private partnership project, aligning with the newly approved financing structure.
