Dry Weather Prevails, Rain Expected in Select Regions on Friday

Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:Most parts of Pakistan are experiencing a stretch of dry weather due to the prevailing continental air, with a shift anticipated as a westerly wave is expected to enter the upper parts of the country on the evening or night of the 13th, according to a press release from the National Weather Forecasting Centre (NWFC). While dry conditions are projected to maintain their hold on most regions in the country on Thursday and Friday, some areas, particularly upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, the Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, are likely to experience rain-wind/thunderstorm (and snow over high mountains) on Friday evening or night.

The past 24 hours have seen a continuation of the dry weather pattern across most regions of the country, while Nokkundi and Shaheed Benazirabad registered the day’s highest maximum temperatures at 41°C and 40°C respectively. With the anticipated westerly wave, residents in the aforementioned areas expecting precipitation may need to make necessary preparations or adjustments to their plans, especially considering potential disruptions or weather-related hazards in regions predicted to experience snow over high elevations.
