DPM Reaffirms Commitment to Eradicate Polio in Pakistan


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating polio in Pakistan. He discussed these efforts during a meeting with a delegation from the Polio Oversight Board (POB), led by Mike McGovern of Rotary International, in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the Polio Oversight Board’s ongoing support and emphasized the government’s determination to achieve a polio-free Pakistan. This commitment involves sustained political efforts and collaboration with international partners. The delegation applauded Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in regional peace and its role in addressing global humanitarian issues.



The meeting was also attended by Ayesha Raza Farooq, Chairperson of the National Commission for Rights of the Child and head of the Pakistan Polio Programme, alongside senior officials from relevant ministries. Additionally, representatives from the Gates Foundation, WHO, Gavi, UNICEF, KSrelief, and the CDC were part of the delegation.
