New York: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, participated in the Digital Cooperation Organization’s High-Level Ministerial Dialogue during his visit to New York for the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He described digital transformation as a key part of Pakistan’s transition from economic stabilization to sustainable growth.

According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister highlighted the development of digital public infrastructure and cashless payments, emphasizing the need for connectivity to be complemented by upskilling and reskilling. This, he noted, would assist freelancers and other digital workers in moving into higher-value services.

Addressing the widespread adoption of virtual assets, he outlined Pakistan’s efforts on legislation, oversight, and licensing, underscoring practical applications beyond cryptocurrency. These include facilitating cheaper and more seamless remittances and exploring the potential tokenization of public debt and real estate.

The Finance Minister called for closer collaboration among DCO member states, encouraging the sharing of successful approaches and attracting investment in the digital economy.
