KARACHI: Development work has officially begun in the SITE Super Highway Industrial Area, with all projects slated for completion before December 15. This initiative, supported by a special grant from the Sindh Government, aims to enhance infrastructure and provide basic facilities in Karachi’s industrial zones, which is expected to bolster business activities and create employment opportunities.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the significance of the city’s industrial areas in its economic development. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony attended by key figures, including industrialists and local officials, the Mayor stated that the Sindh Government has allocated over Rs9.25 billion for seven industrial zones in Karachi, out of which Rs700 million is designated for the SITE Super Highway.

The Mayor highlighted the unique approach of allowing industrialists to set priorities for development works in their areas, illustrating a collaborative effort in addressing infrastructure needs. He stressed the importance of unity in Karachi, historically affected by divisions, and underscored the potential of industrial growth in strengthening the city’s economy.

Further, Mayor Wahab discussed ongoing and planned water and infrastructure projects, including the establishment of Pakistan’s first industrial water park in the SITE area. The initiative aims to treat 350 million gallons of water in its first phase, with additional projects in the pipeline to meet industrial demands.

In addressing civic issues, the Mayor called for community involvement and urged citizens to report concerns, such as the presence of drug addicts, to authorities. He also mentioned the need for strategic traffic management, particularly concerning heavy vehicles on the Lyari Expressway.

Mayor Wahab reiterated the importance of Karachi in national development, advocating for solutions to be sourced locally. He concluded by affirming that the city’s development is a collective responsibility, essential for both local prosperity and national economic strength.
