New York: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has voiced concerns over ongoing violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and efforts to alter the historical and legal status quo in Occupied East Jerusalem.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar made these remarks during a Joint Arab League and Group of Four Islamic Countries’ Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem, held in New York. He emphasized Pakistan’s support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s backing for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Dar engaged in discussions with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi. The leaders discussed regional developments and expressed a commitment to strengthening relations between Pakistan and Jordan.
