NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of unity in promoting a development-centric agenda at the United Nations during his address at the Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the G-77 and China in New York. He highlighted the pressing challenges confronting developing nations, including debt burdens, fiscal constraints, climate vulnerabilities, and technological disparities, advocating for concrete actions and reforms.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar called for the realization of commitments such as the Sevilla Commitment and the reform of the international financial architecture. He emphasized that new UN mechanisms on artificial intelligence must address technological divides, ensuring developing nations have a significant voice in global AI governance. Additionally, he urged for fair outcomes in international tax negotiations and reiterated the principles of equity and Common but Differentiated Responsibilities in global climate efforts.

The Deputy Prime Minister assured that Pakistan is dedicated to collaborating with the G-77 and China to foster a more equitable international economic framework and prioritize development in the UN’s agenda.
