Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Aims to Bolster US-Pakistan Strategic Ties

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has pledged to enhance Pakistan’s strategic and economic partnership with the United States, focusing on increased trade, investment, and parliamentary collaboration. Speaking to a delegation of US House of Representatives members and American business leaders in Islamabad, Dar emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and institutional ties in strengthening bilateral relations.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar highlighted the ongoing momentum in Pakistan-US relations under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and US President Donald Trump. He noted that frequent high-level engagements have fostered mutual trust and cooperation between the two nations. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the significance of parliamentary exchanges and the peaceful resolution of regional disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

Dar commended President Trump for his role in the Pakistan-India ceasefire understanding and acknowledged Pakistan’s facilitation in the US-Iran dialogue, which resulted in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He pointed out that the United States remains Pakistan’s largest single-country export destination, with bilateral trade reaching $9.4 billion last year, and expressed optimism about doubling this figure in the next five years.

The Deputy Prime Minister invited US investors to explore opportunities in various sectors, citing Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic conditions and business-friendly environment. He also noted the presence of over 80 American companies in Pakistan as a testament to their confidence in the country’s market. Moreover, Dar appreciated the US EXIM Bank’s $1.25 billion financing for the Reko Diq project, viewing it as a vote of confidence in Pakistan’s economic future.

Dar reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting US businesses and expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen bilateral cooperation, paving the way for new trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
