New York: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has called for the full implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan, underscoring Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people. Speaking at the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine meeting, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dar voiced concerns over the ongoing situation in Gaza and the West Bank and acknowledged international mediation efforts.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the roles of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye in promoting the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, as ratified by UN Security Council Resolution 2803. Dar condemned Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif and expressed alarm over illegal settlement activities and annexationist measures in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. He urged for a renewed diplomatic initiative by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Dar emphasized the necessity for the Gaza Peace Plan and Security Council Resolution 2803 to be fully and faithfully executed. He advocated for reconstruction and governance in Gaza to be led by Palestinians, highlighting the importance of the Palestinian Authority’s central role. Additionally, he called for accountability for breaches of international law and humanitarian law.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, Dar reiterated support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, and backed Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.
