Karachi, Deputy Mayor Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, strongly condemned the violence against senior journalist Asghar Azim, emphasizing the importance of impartial and independent journalism. In a separate statement, he also paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, hailing him as a true spokesman for the oppressed and crediting him with making Pakistan a nuclear power.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Murad spoke at an event organized by party activist Sunny Mirani, where he lauded the efforts and achievements of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Murad mentioned that Bhutto’s followers worldwide celebrate his birthday with great enthusiasm, highlighting his global influence and legacy.
Murad described Bhutto as not only a pivotal figure in Pakistan but also an important leader for the Muslim Ummah. He reflected on Bhutto’s confrontation with the “pharaohs” of his time, which ultimately led to Bhutto’s martyrdom. Murad credited Bhutto with addressing the contemporary challenges of the Muslim Ummah and inspiring laborers and farmers to maintain their dignity and self-respect.
The Deputy Mayor also underscored that Shaheed Bhutto instilled a sense of importance and pride among the people of Pakistan, encouraging them to recognize their significance in the country. The event concluded with the cutting of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s birthday cake, celebrating his memory and contributions.
