Srinagar, October 26, 2022 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, regional political leaders have expressed grief at the death of senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Maulana Abbas Ansari, who passed away in Srinagar, yesterday. People’s Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, in a tweet said, Maulana Abbas Ansari lived a life dedicated to the cause of peace and Islam. She said that he was an ardent advocate of unity who led a pious and a humble life. He leaves behind a rich legacy etched into the hearts and minds of people of Kashmir, she said and prayed for the departed soul.
National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, in his condolence message said, all his life, Maulana Abbas Ansari remained engaged with the issues deeply rooted in religious and cultural pluralism of IIOJK. His great efforts to bridge the sectarian divisions will be remembered for all the times to come, he said.
Other NC leaders including Omar Abdullah, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Dr Mustafa Kamal, Nasir Aslam Wani, Tanvir Sadiq, Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi also expressed sorrow over the demise of Maulana Abbas Ansari. They also expressed sympathies and condolences with the bereaved family, and followers of the deceased leader.
Senior Congress leader, Saifuddin Soz, said that Maulana Abbas Ansari’s demise is a great loss to IIOJK as his voice was always meant for conciliation and reconciliation. He said that the late leader was concerned about the death and destruction in Kashmir and was seeking a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
