KARACHI: Nehal Hashmi, Governor of Sindh, commended Atif Farooqi for his contributions to enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Romania over the last 26 years, emphasizing his significant role in fortifying commercial ties between the two nations. The Governor also lauded the Pakistan Romania Business Council for advancing trade diplomacy and private-sector collaboration.
According to Sindh Governor House, these remarks were made during a meeting at the Governor House with Atif Farooqi, Advisor and Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistan Romania Business Council, and Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman of the Council. The discussion focused on furthering bilateral relations, trade, and investment between Pakistan and Romania.
The meeting underscored opportunities for cooperation in maritime trade, logistics, agriculture, industry, and information technology. Both parties highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional connections to foster new business collaborations and economic partnerships.
Atif Farooqi, commenting on the recent memorandum of understanding between Karachi Port Trust and Constan?a Port, noted that the agreement aligns with the vision of Dan Stoenescu, Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan, and positions Romania as a strategic gateway for Pakistan to access European Union markets. He stated that this initiative would enhance maritime connectivity, streamline trade processes, and open new avenues for exporters and importers from both countries.
Concluding the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their dedication to expanding mutual engagement and pursuing practical initiatives to convert bilateral goodwill into concrete economic results.
