Jaipur, June 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): A Dalit girl was gang-raped and murdered by five individuals, including two police constables in Bikaner district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. The victim, a 20-year-old from a village in Bikaner, used to commute to Khajuwala for computer classes. The main accused, Dinesh Vishnoi, had been stalking her for the past 15 days, the victim’s family said.
As per reports, Dinesh, accompanied by two constables, Bhagirath Vishnoi and Manoj Vishnoi, from Khajuwala police station, kidnapped the girl on Tuesday morning as she reached her coaching centre. They then took her to Dinesh’s residence, where she was gang-raped and murdered. The girl’s father said that in an attempt to conceal the gang-rape and murder, the perpetrators disposed of her body near a cinema hall in Khajuwala.
The family members of the victim have refused to grant consent to conduct a post-mortem examination and demanded the immediate arrest of all the accused. They also staged a ‘dharna (sit-in cprotest)’ to press for their demand. The police have registered a case against the Dinesh Bishnoi, Manoj, Bhagirath and others for gang-rape and murder as well as under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. On the other hand, the relatives have also expressed displeasure with former SHO Arvind Singh Shekhawat. It is said that Shekhawat’s farewell party was organised by the accused.
