CPI-M Leader Fatally Attacked During Temple Festival in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, A local leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), P V Sathyanathan, was fatally attacked in Kerala, marking a grim incident of political violence in the state. The 66-year-old leader succumbed to injuries inflicted during a music concert at a temple festival, intensifying concerns about safety and political tensions within the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the attacker, identified as 33-year-old Abhilash, used a sharp weapon to hack Sathyanathan while he was attending the cultural event. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Sathyanathan could not be saved, as confirmed by the police. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the incident has prompted a strong response from the CPI-M, which is now observing a strike to protest against the murder of their local committee secretary of Koyilandy town.

The death of Sathyanathan has not only left the CPI-M and its supporters in mourning but has also raised serious questions about the security of political figures and the increasing incidence of violence in political contexts.
