Continued house detention of Mirwaiz denounced

Srinagar, March 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, has denounced in strong terms the continued house detention of its chief, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The Anjuman Auqaf in a statement in Srinagar, today, said the Mirwaiz has been under continued house arrest for the last over three and a half years, terming it a matter of great concern for all the people of IIOJK.

It said as the holy month of Ramadan is approaching, the people are hoping that the unjustified ban and restriction on their beloved leader will come to an end and he will be allowed to perform his duties towards the masses. Today is the 186th consecutive Friday when the Mirwaiz was prevented from offering the important religious duty of Friday prayer and carrying out his official duties of delivering sermon at the Jamia Masjid, the Anjuman said, adding that by such actions, the religious sentiments of the people are being continuously hurt.

It expressed the hope that in the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, for which there are only a few days left, the sentiments of the people will be taken care of by the occupation authorities by ensuring the unconditional release of the Mirwaiz.
