Lahore: COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, recently hosted a seminar titled “Entrepreneurship, Advertising and Leadership,” featuring Ahmed Kapadia, Chairman of the Pakistan Advertising Association and CEO of Synergy Advertising Pvt. Ltd., as the keynote speaker. The event was organized by the Department of Media and Communication Studies and focused on key topics including advertising, leadership, and the evolving media landscape.
According to the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in The South, the seminar attracted students and faculty who engaged in discussions on creativity and strategic planning in successful advertising campaigns for brands such as Suzuki, KFC, and others. Ahmed Kapadia emphasized the importance of adaptability, innovation, and understanding consumer behavior in the industry. He also shared experiences from his career, including his involvement in the 1996 Cricket World Cup campaign.
Dr. Sohail Riaz, Head of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, opened the seminar with remarks on industry-academia collaboration. He acknowledged Ahmed Kapadia’s contributions as a source of professional inspiration. The interactive session allowed students to discuss topics such as creativity and career growth, with Kapadia encouraging them to develop practical skills for the industry.
The seminar concluded with remarks from Dr. Ayesha Mirza, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker and emphasized the department’s dedication to future industry-focused sessions. Discussions on potential collaborations between the Pakistan Advertising Association and COMSATS University followed, highlighting the possibility of a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance academic and professional partnerships.
