Chinese Premier Li Qiang Begins Four-Day Visit to Pakistan with Formal Ceremonies

Islamabad: Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Islamabad today for a significant four-day visit, marking the first such trip by a Chinese Premier to Pakistan in eleven years. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally welcomed Premier Li at Nur Khan Airbase, where a red carpet and a twenty-one-gun salute were presented in honor of the visiting dignitary.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this visit is set to strengthen the ties between Pakistan and China with planned bilateral meetings and the signing of multiple agreements. Prime Minister Sharif and Premier Li are scheduled to engage in extensive discussions, followed by delegation-level talks focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

Additionally, both leaders will participate in a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding that includes projects under the new phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC-2) and other significant initiatives. One of the highlights of the visit will be the virtual inauguration of the Gwadar International Airport, symbolizing the ongoing partnership and developmental projects between the two nations.

Premier Li’s agenda also includes attending the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, further emphasizing the strategic and cooperative dimensions of his visit.
