Islamabad: Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has welcomed the interest shown by Chinese companies in the country’s agricultural potential. Speaking with representatives from the Chinese company FAMSUN Group in Islamabad, the minister highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas such as agricultural modernization, grain storage, and technology transfer.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions with FAMSUN Group centered on furthering investment in Pakistan’s agri-food sector. Minister Hussain emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s longstanding relationship with China, noting that the cooperation between the two nations has evolved to focus more on agricultural development and industrial collaboration.

The minister acknowledged FAMSUN’s contributions over the past two decades in advancing Pakistan’s feed milling, grain handling, and food processing industries. He encouraged the company to consider expanding its involvement through long-term investments and strategic partnerships.

Minister Hussain also addressed the need for improved grain storage infrastructure and invited FAMSUN to establish modern high-tech silos nationwide. A proposal to set up a pilot demonstration silo at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) was discussed, alongside a request for FAMSUN to send a technical team to assess existing infrastructure at PARC and identify areas for future collaboration.

The FAMSUN delegation expressed appreciation for the Pakistani government’s commitment to modernizing agriculture and facilitating investment in the sector.
